                                    March 8 & 9    6th grade 4:15 - 5:15     5th grade 5:15 - 6:15

Concert:   Northmont High School Auditorium

Tuesday, March 16     Union, Northwood and O.R. Edgington Elementary

Students need to arrive at 6:20 for a 6:30 warm-up.
6th grade meets in Lecture room A
5th grade meets in Lecture room B
SPECIAL NOTE:  Oboe, French horns, Trombones, Baritones & Tubas are requested to attend both concerts.

Helpful Information!
1.  The concert will last 45 minutes or less for the combined 5th & 6th grade bands to perform.
2.  Students should  arrive 6:20 for a 6:30 warm-up
3. Students are expected to stay for the entire concert and sit with their band
4. There will be a photo opportunity at the end of each bands' performance.     No flash photos during the concert.  It will distract the students and they will lose their place in the music.  Thank you for understanding!

Concert Dress:  "Look nice"
        * no blue jeans, no shirts with large writing or distracting designs, no athletic sports wear
*If girls choose to wear a dress or skirt, longer is better with shoes that have low heals.
Students will be distracted while they           are walking up steps, up on stage holding music and instrument.
        * Tennis hoes are fine, but they must be clean.

Yes, it's True!
Students of lower socioeconomic status who took music lessons in grades 8-12 increased their math scores significantly as compared to non-music students. But just as important, reading, history, geography and even social skills soared by 40%

Please note for 5th and 6th grade:  If you forget your instrument on the day of a pop quiz, you will get one  opportunity to make up the quiz.
You can get points for practice and easily make those points up!  How ???
Practice Points!  Calendar has been sent home for keeping record.  All students must turn in calendar as a 10 point assignment.  This calendar is for students to keep track of time practiced.  Practice time is bonus points.  Calendar turn in is an assignment.   Turn into Mrs. Graham
Practice 20 minutes or more for practice points!     No signature needed - that's right - FREE POINTS FOR PRACTICE!!
On a paper, I will need student name, how long you practice, and the date you practice.
